About 400 (30%) of the proposed new homes would be affordable. These could be owned by the city council and designed to set a new standard for sustainable council housing. We would work with Cardiff City Council to ensure this can be delivered in a financially sustainable way.
We are proposing a series of measures to create education and training opportunities to support your ‘Passport to the City of Cardiff’ campaign, targeted specifically at the city’s youngsters who need them most. This includes: Green’ apprenticeship scheme for marginalised youngsters, potentially focusing on forestry/park management skills, renewables installation and electric bike and scooter maintenance, to be developed with the council, employers and training bodies;
Outdoor learning opportunities for schools, including ‘forest school’ spaces, to be designed with educators and outdoor learning experts.
Creating a new community hub which could provide a space for indoor educational purposes.
Dedicated youth allotments where youngsters can learn – with support – to grow and cook their own food, using the community hub kitchen.
Working with the council to identify opportunities for our new primary school to contribute towards closing the attainment gap.
